What does it do to cats?
I am tempted but we have a cat and our neighbour has a dog. Would we be able to use one?

Animals get use to all ultra sonic devices eventually, so don't bank on them working.

As an ex pesty, I remember one of the professional journals that had a picture of a rat eating its breakfast actually sitting on the top of one of these devices.

This was how it was explained to me. If you were to move from the peacful countryside to live by the side of a busy motorway, then you wouldn't get a wink of sleep for the first week or two but after that you'd get use to it and soon be sleeping like a log. This is what happens with the various ultrasonic devices that are available to keep animals away. The target species will eventually get use to them.

Have you read the blerb about FoxWatch Butterfly ?

http://www.conceptresearch.co.uk/fox.htm

basically it is tightly tuned to the hearing of the fox  (I have a friend with a dog and two cats who have never taken the slightest notice of their one).

It works on a PIR and switches on for about 10 second blasts.  The fox learns that if he/she comes into range of it it screams at him/her.  It takes a couple of weeks for the fox to work this out.  It susses that if it avoids your garden - no nasty noise.

The PSPB use the CatWatch to protect vulnerable nesting sites !

Werks fer me

Auntys right,I advised a pal to get one after I saw a fox jumping over his 6foot fence late one night.

The fox kept on coming back night after night even though he shooed it away, chased it,and shouted at it.Sooner or later the fox returned.

Once the Foxwatch was installed the fox seemed to just disappear never to return.

Even though foxes are still reported in the area they do not visit his garden.

It's very difficult to prove a negative isn't it.

If my girls or Henry's friends chooks had been foxed while using a foxwatch then all could say they don't work.  But how long do you wait without being foxed to say that they do work  :?:

My point is that they do work but not always and not for all of the time.

This device is an ultra sonic one ? Yes ?

Then the pest control journals are full of evidence where such devices have failed I'm afraid.
