Right you lot, get chitting !

These are the earlies,  hope no-one wants to stay over, the are on the spare bed.   Sticky labels care of the G/C.  now that's what I call service.   Note the colour co-ordinated egg trays ! ::)    Cheers,     Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

You're a bit behind tony, I've been chitting mine for about a month already now  ;)

They will get planted in about 23 days  :)

I might get banned for saying this  but im considering not growing spuds this year (or just growing in containers). My reason is I bought a sack of spuds for £3.50 the other day and they're good sized and tasty spuds. I know all the arguments about taste, freshness and food miles etc but doesn't all the hard work involved and precious space taken up make it a bit not worth it?

Crikey, that's very organised. I have a whopping FIVE seed spuds chitting away (Kestrel) to experiment with as a first grow in containers.

They only have one decent shoot each so far, too, though they are short and stumpy so must be getting enough light.

I'm a little envious of you having the space to grow all of those :(

It's quite alright you know!  :D
I always say grow what you like to eat - but on modern small plots some crops just don't pay their way.
I now feel that way about onions, my last try with overwintered ones has been a disaster, so I won't bother again - especially when they are sooooo cheap to buy ::)

 I will grow a few in the ground but mostly will be in tubs and bags saving space for other crops in my newly planned but not yet built raised beds.

There's (usually!) something very special about the taste of home-grown new potatoes, and something very limited about the size of my garden, which is why I only grow earlies!  :)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

I only grow earlies too.  Main crop spuds are not worth  the effort here  because of the slug damage and i can  swap a bit of beef for a couple of bags  of perfect pots.

I planted some Rocket in a barrel to day in the green house just to see how it works :)
When they come through can i earth up with grass mowings or does it have to be soil

Mine always get eaten as giant spring onions in the spring and I love them.  I agree its hit and miss to get a decent mature onion out of them before they bolt though  ;)  :)

Just early pots for me as well but mine are not as neatly ordered and labelled as yours Tony  :D
