Allotment Show
« on: August 28, 2006, 12:51 »
Had our show on Sunday. Decided not to put anything in, as a) first  year and b) nothing seemed particularly good enough to submit. When I went and had a look, I could possibly have won the carrot section, got a runner up with my swede and pushed for runners up with tomatoes and cucumber. I will know for next year :!:

If you don't actually see me, you'll undoubtedly be aware of my presence; I do all the public address announcements! 8)

Got the local village show on 16th September.  This is our first year, but we are going for it - based on the quality of the summer show.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained - it will all be good experience for next season when we will have two half plots.

Got jam, two photographs, carrots, cucumbers, runner bean, potaoes, Bertlotti Beans, French Beans, Leeks, Giant Marrow, Large-ish Pumpkin, Tomatoes, sweetcorn, beetroot and hopefully sweetpeas.  Also entering the best single annual in a pot comeptition - picture of this will be posted whatever happens. I have a trick for geting the things to bloom on request.  It has worked this year so far on two other occassons I have tried - if it doesn't work for the show I will feel a little down hearted.

Might even do some cooking on the day - jam tarts and victoria sponge - se what life brings.

How did you get on at your show Rugbymad - are you still building shelves to display all your cups and medals?!

I am just going to try and post the photos my daughter took once I figure it out.
Because I accumulated so many points it meant that I won the blooming great big cup which is not dissimilar to the FA cup!!!
Anyhow, will try to post photos soon
