Hatching Eggs to France
« on: February 21, 2012, 23:36 »
Hi All, this is my first post and I am hoping somebody can help me in my current dilema.

Have been living in France for four years now and am just about to start keeping chickens. I will be importing most of the equipment, housing etc. that I need from the UK as things are priced so much more reasonably there. I just can't find anybody who will send Hatching Eggs to France from the UK to complete my set up. Ebay here doesn't seem to be as useful as in the UK and all other options have drawn a blank. Any ideas, breed/race not set in stone. Thanks for reading. Alan

Just a thought but there may be rules about sending things like eggs to France (more likely to be their receiving of them) :)

Good luck with your venture :)

It is illegal to import eggs into France from the UK.

You can try ebay.de or I had a lot of luck with leboncoin.fr over the past couple of years.

There was a small enterprise hatchingeggsinfrance.com, but the website doesn't seem to be working now.

anybody wishing to export fertile eggs have to have all their birds tested to prove they are disease free and this isn't cheap. There are a good supply of eggs in France so perhaps Casey (or one of our other French members) will come on and point you in the right direction  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

Most of the parent stock of laying birds are now owned by Hendrix Genetics who are world wide.  It may be an idea to contact them to see if they have outlets in France that will sell small quantities, but they are usually day olds rather than eggs.

I contacted them once about something and they were most helpful.
