Help my horse has just stood on one of my chickens feet - it is badly bruised and might be broken (she not moving on it and looks in a lot of pain.)  Can't get a hold of any vet nearby - should I try and immobilise foot with a bandage or leave her alone.  Is there anything I can give her for pain?  Help!!!

nothing for the pain ... get some lolly sticks and tape . if the legs broke you need to pull gently on it to extend it and then place the foot in the right position and then allow it to go back .sticks on both sides of the leg cut sticks to fit put cotton wool over the ends  and then tape the leg up . use gaffer tape if ya have it ..werks for me
still alive /............

If its any consolation a friend of mine has many horses and many chickens and what has happened to your chook has happened to her chooks many times. she normally just purple sprays any cuts and then just leaves them. they always seem to turn out okay in fact my cockerel came from her just after its leg had repaired, he is absolutely fine. :D
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!!

Thank you both very much will do my best with sticky tape.  My two hens always sleep in the old stallions stable and only lay their egss there.  He is normally very tolerant of them but they do get under his feet to share his dinner.  Thanks again

I used to find, when I worked with horses regularly, that after a lot of bruised toes you eventually learn to instictively curl your toes up in your boots and it stops happening!  Now perhaps, if chickens weren't so dim, they could learn to get out of the way a bit quicker but somehow I think it's not going to happen
