Nipple watering system
« on: February 16, 2012, 15:57 »
Does anyone out there use the nipple watering method. Seen it on You-tube and it looks pretty good, obviously useless in winter as they would freeze up. Summertime however would be a different kettle of fish if it was connected to a large holding tank.
So anyone out there us this method or have any comments on it...Aden..

Im using these at the moment for my chooks.
Bought a dozen off ebay and inserted them around the base of a 10ltr bucket with lid.
This then hangs in the corner of the run approx 18in from the ground.
I simply use a watering can to top it up when needed.
Youtube link for instruction.

Sorry hope im not thread hijacking but I would love to know how these are made. They seem like plastic versions of "brake unions" made for cars. The rest could be flared bits of brake pipe. If we can figure out how they are made I dont mind making a few and knocking them out at a very very fair price.

I dont think it would be cost effective as the ready made nipples are only £1.00 each.
Easier to buy them nuzuki..

Thats true, I didnt realise they were that cheap. Im guessing with postage it maybe nearer £3. Ive just realised they might be plastic conduit ends used for cable trunking. Im a bit of a tight person so id probably find a way of making some before I buy some or find another way. Maybe the future is hats for the chickens with mineral water taped to the side of the hat and a drinking straw system, anyone remember those hats from the 80's? :)

nuzuki please note that it is against the rules of our site to buy or sell any items. If you want to go ahead and make them then you would have to offer to give them free of charge.
