I bought some Vivaldi potatoes in Sainsbury's, sold as bakers, and just had them for dinner - absolutely delicious.  They will definitely be on my seed potato list this year

They won't be as nice as the ones that you grow yourself. I've tried most of the Taste the Difference spuds in Sainsburys and it's very hit and miss. From King Edwards to Charlotte there was nothing sooo special about them. They keep them for too long in a chiller before they go out.

I hope your Vivaldi's go well.

i grew them the year before last and they were really nice tasty spuds, but only a few got to baking size

I've got 18 vivaldi seed chitting at the moment and am looking forward to home grown ones. Over the last five years I've been trying different potatoes each year to find the tastiest but the trouble is I can't possibly grow all the ones I like.

Nice tatties vivaldi grown them for a couple of seasons but prefer nadine for size and is a good cropper.

I was buying Kestrel from Waitrose before Christmas but recently they have had a lot of black in them.  I think they must have been frosted.  The same with some King Edwards I bought last weekend.  Still, I think I try some Kestrel this year as well as the Vivaldi, and some Lady Christl which were great last year.

Vivaldi were developed here in Lincolnshire, and they reckon they are better for you than other potatoes.  less calories and less carbs!

Ha ha - I know.  But I've only got a quarter plot and my space is too precious to be self-sufficient in spuds so it's summer treats only.
