My local poultry club holds three shows every year. The next one will be on Sunday 18th of November. Like most clubs and organisations, the fact that we able to do so, is down to the efforts of just a few hard working people.
Here are some pictures that I took at our last show. I hope you enjoy them.
That damned hour moving was a bummer, I could have done with an extra hour in bed rather than one less. All too soon the alarm clock sounded and I was off up the road towards Mona on Anglesey, for today was Gwynedd Poultry Clubs Spring Show.
Here are a few piccies to give you just a taste of what went on.
These were in a for sale pen and sold for £25.00
Salmon Faverolle
A couple of strange birds. Without a lot of work from just a few hardworking people an event like this would simply never take place.
We even had a best egg competition.

I'd like one of them. It'd keep the pigeons away wouldn't it?

Bodger, in the best egg catergory did you break open any of the eggs?
I ask because I entered my girls eggs in our small village show this year, they broke one of each entry into a saucer & judged them on their appearance. The egg that won was the one that had the clearest 'white' how can you tell if it is going to be a perfect one before you enter? as some can be quite cloudy!!!! as it turned out they only gave a first out as none of the other entries were good enough for a second or third!!!! (& it wasn't one of mine!!) They didn't cut into the veg or fruit etc to see if they were ok inside.
I only entered for a bit of fun, but was abit miffed!! :?

First of all I'm not into egg showing but I think there are two types of egg class.
One where they look at the eggs and the other where they look at the contents. In the latter I havent got a clue what the judges are actually looking for.
I'm sorry I can't be anymore helpful.

Thanks for the link Aunty, interesting. I wouldn't have minded if they had put 'egg contents' on the entry form! It was the first year they had that catergory. I'll stick to me lettuces as they got 2nd!!
Thanks again
