Not a daft question at all. I believe that all manures have weeds seeds in there, and any manure is good. I have sheep so use their manure; horse manure is so-called "hot" and needs rotting down more so it doesn't burn your veg, as do others as well but not as much. Get as much as you can, ask if it is fresh or old, dig it in and go for it.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Thanks I can get loads of it and all for free which is a big bonus. Everybody seems to use either pig or cow muck on my allotment which u buy in bulk at shop. But I got offered a load from a friend as and when so thought it would be too good to turn down. Thanks for ur post  ::)

Take what you can get and dig it in when rotted or let it rot over autumn and winter in the ground.. You can never have too much so just stockpile and let it rot naturally. Make compost and layer all your ground with it. Remember you will still need fertilizer but not as much and keep checking the PH of the soil as manure does need liming from time to time.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Just make sure that who you get it off, does not use weedkiller in the paddock - it doesn't breakdown in the horse!!!

we have an ample supply of horse manure on our plots, you can get some free wheat growing depending on what it has been fed but if used as a mulch they are very easy to pull out.also it tends to be a bit strawy which some people dont like but i find it great for frost protection over potatoes.
