I'd love to believe you both. These old Cumbrian rural sages have a good line in bulls**t. He'll probably put a temporary stop to the problem. Total eradication would put him out of business.

Not quite - I'm still wondering what wattage the bulbs are, and whether they do actually help them to see better - I thought they were almost completely blind.   8)

Well virtually all the tulips I planted last autumn are up and doing fine - of course I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't put the mole bulbs in, but since every one of my onions and shallots were eaten within a week, I might just try them with some onions and see what happens.
