Crop rotation can become a bit of an obsetion but for all the reasons stated previously I would really recommend it if youve got the land.Sometimes I make a mistake and worried about it as if i'd committed a cardinal sin but I got away with it .But it is just that 'getting away'with it.My opinion is this. The growing season is only 8-9 months long and I won't get last year back to try again so its a pity not to do you'r best if youve got the resorces and knowledge at hand to do so.

I agree that it's good practice to rotate. However I'm in the rather strange position of having plenty of land to spare but with a patch that's about 8 metres x 8 metres that because it's heavily overshadowed by trees is pretty useless for anything other than spuds. As stated, once this stops yielding I'll return it to pasture and let the ponies have it back. I've been amazed at the continuing spud yield of this patch which is about to start yet another year of them
