A slightly different day on the plot
« on: January 08, 2012, 15:38 »
Went just to do a bit of harvesting and found a fellow plot holder strugging with a hand saw to get this monster off his veg

Our council are not so great at allotment maintenance and tend to trample everything when they get involved, so OH leapt into action, went to fetch his kit and set to........

Result  :D  One happy plot owner and quite a few plot holders eyeing up logs

"Our council are not so great at allotment maintenance"

That's actually a very serious issue, concerning border maintanance when it comes to large and/or potentially dangerous trees.

Yesterday I decided, I was going to make a phone call about the one squeacking over me all morning.

It's fair that large trees are under protection but if nobody maintains them they become a hazard.

I agree Gobs that the council should have been looking after the trees and hope yours sorts the tree you report to them.  I had one go over on my plot a few years back and they trashed a fair bit removing it  ::)

OH is a qualified tree surgeon and does some work for the council, so he'll call them tomorrow to let them know.  The tree was not flat on the ground and was leaning on a couple of branches, so was far from safe.

Think OH quite enjoyed the hero of the hour though MoS   And the plot holder in question did break into quite a beam as OH returned with all the kit Sunshine  :)
