Parnsips... i'm reading lots of conflicting advice about washing before storing, and other sources seem to underline Do Not Wash before storing

Um, can anyone shed any light?
I'm planning on putting half of them in the bottom of the fridge, in a bag, so i guess it doesn't matter if they're scrubbed clean or not....
And the rest are going in a basket in a cool dark cupboard. (no room anywhere else)

Scrub the fridge ones? Leave the cupboard ones with some dried earth on them to delay drying out?

That's what I'd do.

I've still got some mucky ones from a week before Christmas that are still ok. I would say leave them all mucky & wrap well in a pastic bag.

If the plastic bag is tied closed, then I'd wash the parsnips first. If the bag is left open, the dirty won't get damp and mucky in the fridge.

For shelf/cold cellar storage, leave the dirt on. I do with my potatoes and carrots.
