rocket question.
« on: January 05, 2012, 21:27 »
I sowed a 6ft sq patch of salad rocket at the end of last summer (under cover) It cropped magnificently, then got a bit soggy as the weather cooled, finally the turkeys enjoyed a last supper in the tunnel and pretty much decimated it.

My question is... would you expect regrowth when the light levels increase? Or will i have to resow and wait longer.
Liv.

It may, depending on how much it was decimated.

I found that mine grew back vigorously, not from the original plant, but from self-seeding.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I'm trying wild rocket this year and will give it a patch in semi-shade. I understand it's a perennial and also self-seeds so as long as I contain it, it should keep going?

If the plants were quite substantail before ther haircut, they may well grow back,

I was surprised at the depth of their tap roots when I came to dig some out last year, and these were two year old plants

OP here,

The rocket does appear to be coming back.  Have sowed more anyway

Thanks.

The roots become quite hard and resilient, and I reckon they'll just make new growth which may actually be nicer than previously!
