I collect all sorts - there's nothing like getting out the jam pan and finding there's no jars for the jam!!

Toilet roll tubes for the sweetcorn to be started off in.
Jam jars
Macdonalds salad bowls make great propagators
Flag stones - oh yes my favourite at the mo... although seem to have enough now!!
Neighbours leaves, Tissues and paper for the compost..
I was collecting milk bottles to make comfrey tea... but now acquired a water but to use instead
Frames from Kiddies swings - for runner bean frame
...
...
...

oh dear, another guilty pleasure revealed on the AVG!!!  I let slip at work last summer that I needed empty jars for pickles, chutneys etc ( LET SLIP = doing a group email to all 760 people at the Slough site  :D :D :D). I come into work most weeks to find a carrier bag on my desk with some jars - and people always wash them first, how kind!) Trouble is- how do I stop them? I have bags of jars at home in the greenhouse, in the garage, at work under my desk...... I could just do another email to say I have enough, but, but,but ...they might just come in handy, might they?
Is there a WI near you that might want some?

The cheapo jars are taller and don't fit in the bottling pan but are ok for jams and pickles that don't need heat treatment.
At least if I buy Grosman sauces I can eat the contents .................We only buy them if the tom crop was bad and couldn't make enough pasta sauce of our own. There is a method in our madness, seedman  ;)

and in our supermarkets they are only £1 each anyway  8)

>But SS, my bits and pieces are useful

If they're useful (and actually get used) then you're not hoarding!

If you don't collect more than sufficient for your needs, store them neatly, and dispose of them once they've come to the end of their useful life then it isn't hoarding.

All my loo rolls are collected in a bag, stored neatly, and are used up each year - This is not hoarding in my opinion.

If loo rolls are collected from all your family/friends/work place etc, then thrown into a myriad of bags which are then kept in a dark corner, and the bottom ones haven't seen the light of day for 3 years then you're hoarding! Hoarders know who they are, and are usually in denial.

I was a hoarder, and married someone who wasn't. We then had to get the contents of three households (don't ask) into one property. The subsequent decluttering was a liberating experience. The garage was transformed (and still is, seven years later). All of the useful stuff is in racks and trays - plugs, fuses, tools, nuts. bolts, chemicals, cloches, etc etc are all filed/stored/catalogued and are all easily accessable. All of the dross was given away/binned/recycled/used etc

Be ruthless! your shed/garage will thank you for it!

I agree SS --- decluttering is very cathartic.

I love taking bottles to the bottle bank for that reason

It's the decluttering of the contents from the bottles that's the best part though....isn't it

It would take ages in our house -- I don't drink tea and Mr Sunny only has two at home in the week

Started hoarding?  ???  :nowink:

Are you kidding?  ::)

I'm now planning to re-use the items I've already re-used at least twice (I've not been the same since panic set in when the oh-so-environmentally-aware Tossco recently started selling chickens in plastic bags instead of those nice triangular-ish trays which were so useful for funnelling compost and other pourable "stuff" into pots and whatnot!  >:()
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Hoarding used tea bags? That's a serious case.

I thought my bag of laddered tights was the limit..

Can we get tablets for it?
