I have made a start clearing the brambles, nettles etc.,from my first allotment plot and have come across some raspberry plants which are mature and appear to be over grown. Firstly I would like to move them, is this the right time of year? And secondly do I need to prune them first.

As with any kind of transplanting, keeping the roots as well covered/wetted as possible is really important. Cold winds have a very strong drying effect - I reckon I've lost more trees to that than actual frosts
