Chickens are going to be unimpressed
« on: January 03, 2012, 07:39 »
My lot don't do weather so are unimpressed this morning.  They all have roofed runs so shouldn't be so softy, but they yelled to get out and now have changed their minds and are in the coops looking out with distain.

Is blowing a gale, so understandable  :D

Keep safe everyone and hope your chooks have fastened their safety belts.  Think we are in for a rough day  :)

I'm surprised my tree roosters were still there in the trees this morning, all I can say is that they must have good strong toes to remain over 20 feet up in a bare cherry tree (we breed em ard ere in Lincolnshire ).
Staffies are softer than you think.

They must have been hanging on for dear life Joy

My southern softies are either in the coops, under the coops or clustered round their food and water in a brief refuel before heading back to bed

Bet you were ready with your net to catch those illusive cockerels.  Don't like your chances if they can hang on in these winds.   :D

indeed I was - up and out early ready to cull hoping against hope that they had been sensible and gone into one of the shelters but alas no. It is almost as if they are mocking me

Think you need to encourage them down with a hose or water pistol!   :D

one caught this morning - I placed a tray of layers meal in the eglu run (no birds are using the eglu at the moment) and greed got the better of him and one girl so have them both shut in there with food and water for the day. Tonight after work I will have to deal with him and free the girl. Only 3 more tree dwelling boys to go and to stop any girls going broody for the next month to ensure no little ones will be hatched.
