Cleared up after the foxes midnight feast.... obviously my parents' garden is a nice place to relax - just wish they'd take their picnic wrappings back to the dustbin they got it from.  >:(

We sat in the shed for an hour, drinking tea and watching the rain  ;)

popped into both plots - picked some strawberries and raspberries, weeded a bit then came home.

For the second week running it's way too wet to do anything worthwhile. not a lot is coming on at all.

The wind dropped a little and the rain stopped for a little so.... over to the Little Pink Bungalow and set work on the veg plot:

Sowed three rows of beetroot, one of spinach and carrot, transplanted lettuce as well as very late (isn't everything) onions that might just do something before the end of summer.

Sprinkled the magic blue pellets as much to amuse the foxes as kill slugs (fat chance) then wandered in to see my parents.... tuned in the tv and left them to it for an hour.

At work today, so plot left to its own devices.  Got in late to find one of my tomato plants had been lifted out of its pot by the wind, and the pot nowhere to be seen.  Horrendous weather with strong wind and 10 degrees only.  Brought the toms not in the ground into the porch for the time being.  Then put the heating on.  On midsummer day!

Didn't get to the plot today so will visit tomorrow to assess the damage  :(

I did however make a large batch of elderflower cordial with my pink elderflowers.

I also propped up the laburnum at the end of the garden which had blown over - not sure it hasn't had a broken main root, we will see if it survives.

To wet to do anything this morning, so just harvested enough potatoes, carrots, cabbage, strawberries and rhubarb for tonights tea.

Not been up the plot yet but so far this morning I have planted out one aubergine and three peppers in the greenhouse, potted up two courgette plants and one summer squash into large pots and potted up some chard, lettuce, celtuce and perpetual spinach.

Managed to get a lot done by getting up early and getting out before it started raining again.

Sowed beetroot, more swede, radishes and St George runner beans that in theory will give me a late crop (if they don't get eaten of course)

Took the debris netting tent off the squashes... I think they are growing now

Dug up a Vanessa potato plant - nearly a kilo of lovely pink spuds  :D and picked a whole basinful of strawberries that Mr Vole hadn't bitten off the stalks. Dug up 40 plants to bring home and re-plant

A couple of handfuls of gooseberries added to the haul, with broad beans and french beans, as well as red spring onions

Mr Sunny cut the grass on the front verge and hacked dowon the 1m tall thistles and grass on the back verge.

Sprayed potatoes and tomatoes as a blight preventative -- never done this before but after last year's decimation am giving it a try

Forgot the first garlic head --- provence wight.  Dug one up just to see, and it is about 4cm across  :D :D

Harvested my first bowl of strawberries of the season, split them with my youngest - guess who got the slug bitten ones.
Harvested half of my garlic as they have rust, left the rest to see if they will bulk up more.
And of course I weeded.

Put in some longer canes and tied in some twine as the wind is blowing my peas all over.
The pods are starting to fill out so will have a crop shortly.
Pulled up one of my garlic plants as it was laying on the ground and found half of the bulb had been eaten by a tiny little maggot of some discription , hope the rest are ok. The leaves are dying back so I will be harvesting them soon.
One good thing about the wind is it is drying the plot out after all the rain we have had. All we need now is a little sunshine.

Put some canes in with string support for my climbing peas which are about 8ins tall now.

Watered, watered and watered

And since I "rescued" a marmande tomato plant from the GC today, I need to find a place to put it  ::)
