Plant through fabric?

Is it one which doesn't need holes poked or cut in it? What is it called?

Sounds like they're just saying to plant in a hole made in weedproof membrane laid on the ground. No weeding because of the weedproof membrane.

Remember you still need to prepare the soil underneath if you're going to get a decent crop. I often plant courgettes through membrane.

Only negative thing I can say is that slugs etc will love it under there, and you will need to get rid of perennial weeds like couch grass and mares' tail as they can penetrate the fabric.
