The polytunnel alongside of which I'm going to open up a new area is about 24ft long and runs approximately North to South. There are no overhanging trees and the hedges to the South and to the West are about 50ft away. There is no cover within about 100 yards to the North and East

My first reaction was to put the new area to the East of the tunnel to shelter it from the prevailing wind. This of course will have the effect of limiting the direct sunlight to mornings and early afternoons with the later sunlight being diffused through the polythene of the tunnel thus probably keeping it a little cooler than a South facing spot but more sheltered. Am I doing the correct thing logically?
