Mushroom help with pics thanks to aunt sally
« on: November 20, 2011, 20:45 »
I have five different mushrooms growing on the paths on our plot, now before I get rid of them I just wondered if anyone could identify them, I have a problem uploading pics as our big pc is having a tantrum however I could email them to someone if they want to take a look for me.
I am worried about them being poisonous as we have three children which is why we were thinking about getting rid of them. I am not going to eat them as I know people may not be 100% on the variety.I am just curious.

Thanks for any help

You could email them to admin@allotment-garden.org and Auntie or John might be able to help post them. :)

If you pick mushrooms in France, you can take your them to the nearest pharmacy and they will check to see if they're poisnous  - why can't that ever happen here ???

Each to his own but I prefer to have the fungi there rather than get rid of them -  to show children what they are and how you should avoid touching them and never eat them... my logic being that fungi pop up so suddenly you can never stop children coming across them.

Bit like water really - would rather have ponds and canals around and teach children how to behave around them than drain or fence them so they never learn respect for water

rant over

Pics will be on the way, my 13 year olds asthma is triggered by mushroom spores so it's a double edged sword really as I would rather leave them but I also don't want him in hospital like he was this time last year

I can see that's a very different problem! I once lived in a house where we discovered a huge fruiting body of dry rot in the meter cupboard in one of the bedrooms, but not until my housemate had had a bad chest for months...

Very good photographs there  :D

Mush 3 looks a bit like a wood blewit with that lovely shiny cap. Do they smell perfumy?
