Any suggestions appreciated: we have lost a couple of our blackcurrant bushes at school and having talked to a knowledgeable lady at a nursery, I think the soil wasn't prepared b4 they went in.  And i dint kno they need an acid soil. 
Anyway I now have some suitable compost and will replant the b/currants, but Im thinkin it might be better to have another bush fruit to replace the dead ones.  I need ideas for somethin which will fruit b4 the summer hols (late July) or after Aug.  Its nice if it can be used in school in some way......

We have some strawbs... although they're currently being a bit squashed by scaffolding poles!
I wondered about gooseberries.... I love them but i'm unsure as to whether they'll be popular with the children...hmmmmm
