new raspberry canes

hi new raspberry canes arrived today so tomorrow weather permitting i intend to plant them , can i put blood and bone meal straight to the roots when i plant them or would this burn the roots i also have a alot of potato fertiliser NPK left over would this be better to put to the roots or is above ground best . many thanks ricky

I wouldn't use the potato fertiliser as that's designed for potatoes.

FBB I usually rake lightly into the top.

and then I mulch with dead leaves to stop weeds growing around the canes --- new canes come up with no trouble through it
