   Can anyone give any advice from their own experience if possible of what would be a good grapevine to grow in the cold climate of northern England??  I've done a bit of research online but can't seem to find much info.  If possible I want a blue/black variety and would prefer seedless if poss.  Will prob be growing in a polytunnel so it wouldn't get punished by the weather too much.

I would suggest Aldi or Lidl but def not the Tesco one 




Most have given up over here with them, they have been ok but nothing to write home about, I could ask them which they were if you wish.

I had one from Aldi a couple of years ago but it died as soon as the weather got cold and it was even in a polytunnel so it was obviously meant for a warmer climate.  If I can find out any particular strains that do well in this cold climate I can maybe order one from Thompson & Morgan or somewhere similar.

I have no connection with this company but seem to be linking to them a lot!  They are based in Pickering so have some idea of what will grow this far north.

Aidy may well be right, but they will be able to advise you properly if you contact them I'm sure.

Here's their catalogue of grapes; some have got cultivation notes which will guide you as to their suitability for growing as far north as you.

I think that you want a table seedless grape. For the North, you will get best results in a tunnel. Choose an early ripening type, which will produce ripe fruit every year. In Glasgow, I have three vines, which I find very easy to look after and very productive. I suspect that some of the latest breeding types will produce the best results in the North.
