I am wanting a large Walk In Run with roof and am researching the cost of the Wire Mesh.  I have come across this supplier who now does free delivery
www.4wire.co.uk/wire-mesh-galvanised-c-2.html but never bought any before so need advice.

Part of the WIR is for hens, another section for quail and possibly another for ducks.  Not sure if I should get different hole sizes for the sections or go for 1/2" x 1/2" all over so the quail cannot stick their heads out.  Still in the planning stage at the moment so not sure of the sizes as cannot decide on which of 2 possible areas to site the WIR.

Anyone with advice on quality mesh at reasonable prices will be greatly appreciated or any other advice on the pitfalls I will come across.  Want to avoid as many as possible!   :D

I haven't used this particular company but quite a few people recommended it on this site.

I used hills of devon, no complaints.
Its likely to be cheaper to just use one size
We use chemicals in this garden, just as god intended

 :)  Thanks for the advice.

So confusing though as some sites put the wire gauge down i.e 19G and others put the diameter i.e. 0.7 mm, 0.9 mm, 1 mm from what I have researched 19G is about 0.9 mm and 18G is about 1 mm.  This makes comparisons more difficult.

Hills of Devon are out of stock on the 36" x 30 m in 1/2" x 1/2" and 1" x 1/2" avairy mesh (1 mm) and their alternative 13 mm x 13 mm is only 0.7 mm wire which sounds too thin.

More research needed.

SWG sizes =
SWG 8 =4.09mm
SWG 9 = 3.64mm
SWG 10 = 3.25mm
SWG 11 = 2.93mm
SWG 12 = 2.641mm
SWG 13 = 2.324mm
SWG 14 = 2.043mm
SWG 15 = 1.82mm
SWG 16 = 1.626mm
SWG 17 = 1.43mm
SWG 18 = 1.214
SWG 19 = 1.021mm
SWG 20 = 0.910

if you need any more sizes just ask me, or if you want them in imperial again just ask  :D
Staffies are softer than you think.

Thanks for that, the one I looked at must have been AWG.  So it depends on what the supplier classes 19 G as SWG or AWG.

I think mine is .9mm
Given the effort I put in to cut it, any fox that can chew through it deserves a chicken supper.

Thanks for the information.  Have looked on this one but it seems really expensive on like for like with
www.4wire.co.uk/wire-mesh-13x13mm-holes-inch36high-30meters-p-216.html
plus there is not delivery charge unlike meshdirect who only deliver free on orders over £60.
