Loss of feathers
« on: October 29, 2011, 15:07 »
Hi everyone

We've had our girls 3 weeks now and they have settled in well apart from a bout of mycoplasma :( but the antibiotics seem to have helped clear that up :)

We haven't had any eggs yet but they are only about 23-24 weeks old so we are not expecting any until the spring any before will be a bonus!!

Just after a bit of advice if possible. When we let the girls out in the mornings there are quite a few small little feathers in the coop and a few in the run from during the day.

Is this normal? I know they normally moult at this time of year but would ours being this young moult?

Thanks

they will be having a partial moult which is perfectly normal  :)
Glad the myco has cleared up, just remember it can come back at other times of stress (not always) so just keep an eye on your girls  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

Many thanks Joyfull

That's what is so good on here that things that we may be worried about are usually put to ease by all you experienced people!

Regarding the myco they have had the tylan for the 7 days now but I think the vet put an extra couple of days in just in case we dropped some! should we use the extra or stop now the 7 days are up do you think? The only signs of the myco left are a very very occasional sneeze.

Thanks

Our LF are starting their moult too, Ruby looks like a Naked Neck  and Tallulah looks like she's brooding her breast is so bare
