Bantam Silver Laced Wyandotte not laying (22 wks old)

Hi folks,

one of my chooks (The S/L wyandotte) hasn't started laying yet, and I'm slighty concerned as it's approx. 4 weeks after POL. I've had no probs in the past with other birds but this is my first S/L wyandotte. Initially I thought she might be laying in the orchard somewhere and no the box next to where she roosts beside her cockerel. Any suggestions?

I'm with Joyfull.  The estimate you're working on (18 weeks = POL) is only true of commercial hybrids.  I got my six pullets at the beginning of autumn when they were 12 - 17 weeks old, and the first one started laying after mid winter's day, so you've got a long way to go before you need to worry about your bantie.
