Fire Ash
« on: October 14, 2011, 13:53 »
Hi everyone
Just thought I would ask a stupid question.
I took over my allotment in August and guess what ... it was 3 feet high in weeds all over.
So I have been digging all the weeds out by hand and burning them.
I have now got the whole plot done and cultivated it with a rotovater,
But I now have a big heep of fire ash left from the burnt out weeds.
Can I spread this throughout the allotment and will it do good or harm to the soil.
Thanks your answers will be appreciated

Hi and welcome. :D Assuming all the weed seeds were thoroughly burnt, it should be fine to spread the ash around. :)

Well done you for all your hard work! Yes - the ash will be beneficial to the soil.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
