mixing ages in a brooder?
« on: October 11, 2011, 14:48 »
Hi, can anyone tell me if I can put a one day old chick in the brooder together with 3 x 6 day old chicks?  Thanks, Maggie

I would, but keep a careful eye on them.  The 6 day old ones may be a bit boisterous :)

But they shouldn't be too different in size (unless you have amix of LF and bantams!)

Thanks Casey. I'm just a bit worried they might peck it and bully the poor wee thing

It should be fine I have done this before, they sort themselves out pretty quickly.
