Would chicken manure attract foxes?
« on: October 08, 2011, 22:12 »
I have the chance to collect a good amount of chicken and rabbit manure. We have a family of foxes on the plots and I was wondering if the scent of the manure will have the fox digging in my beds. He isn't normally a problem and does tend to do a lot of scavenging without too much damage.
Any advice would be appreciated please.

yes  >:(

I have to confess that I used to pop a few pellets into a planting hole and then bung in the plants only to find them all dug up the next day.  These days I pot on with some pellets in the bottom of a pot and then plant out much later when the manure isn't as fresh.  Perhaps manuring the beds early and letting the fox have a fruitless dig over before planting may be the way to go.
