I have the same problem with my new girls, so I will be interested to see the responses. At the moment I am picking them up when all settled for the night and popping them on to the perches in the hope they will soon realise that is supposed to be where they sleep!  :D

When I got my new girls I had to pick them out from about 50 in a barn. There were perches provided but most of them were sleeping on the floor.
I suppose it depends on how you feel. Although they are birds and should roost they do what's most comfortable.
I spent months and months moving mine at night then gave up. It wasn't that much hassle to poo pick the nest box each morning.
When I got more girls they all went and roosted on the bars together!!
Flock mentality and not enough room for all in the nest box!!!

as they usually do a load of pooh overnight it is best to have them on perches - I had one with a severe eye infection and swab cultures proved to be from getting pooh in her eyes (and yes I did pooh pick daily in her coop). As she still wouldn't roost I ended up making a raised slatted floor so she had no alternative but sleep on the slats allowing pooh to fall thorough below.
Please all bear this in mind as expensive vets fees in this case are avoidable.
Staffies are softer than you think.
