aureomycin?
« on: October 02, 2011, 09:46 »
Some of my birds were sneezing and had runny noses (no other symptoms ) so took two of them to the vet and have been given auremycin? She said it could be myco but didn't know loads about poultry. Iv been told to give 3/4 tsp per every 2L of water for 7-10 days. Has anyone else used this to treat myco before? I'm interested to hear how anyone else has gotten on with it and also how you manage myco in the long term as I know it's like the herpes virus and stays in their system forever once they have it

yes its a broad spectrum antibiotic and is often used for myco. If you wish to keep the hen with myco then never ever breed from her as it can pass down to the chicks. Keep a close eye on her especially in times of stress - moulting etc as it can flare up again without warning.
Staffies are softer than you think.
