I have all my Strawberry plants and runners now planted and growing nicely in tubs on my roof garden... I now have a Lottie (finally put my name down and got one in a month!!)  I take ownership in a few days then lots of preparing to do.

Soooo my question is.. Bearing in mind that I can take a whole chunk of soil and plant without disturbing the roots will it be too late to plant out all my plants into their new Lottie beds in about 2 - 3 weeks time when ready? Thats mid to late October..

PS. I live in Cheshire...
Now a member of the 10 Ton club.... 2013  harvested 588 Kg from 165 sq mt..

You can move them whenever you like, as long as the ground isn't frozen.

So plenty of time  :)

Oh great news - thanks... I really want to get them in before the winter so they get teh benefit of growing in full soil instead of my "hand me down" mixture I've used in my pots for a few years now!!

Last year mine did not arrive until mid Oct - I planted them and a few weeks later came that really freezing spell we had in november when they were covered in a load of snow. They still did ok.

As MoS says, its not too late. Just remember that strawbs are very hardy which is why they're greening up so early in spring, almost right after garlic.

Just be sure that their area is well weeded as they don't do well competing against weeds.
