Bolting calabrese

Bolting calabrese

Can anyone explain why my calabrese runs to flower before I can harvest it?  Is there a specific variety which is less prone to bolting?  This year has been the worst ever for this problem on my allotment.

Welcome to the forums.

A lot of the problems this year are down to lack of water, as this is one of them.

You have to keep a careful eye on things like calabrese, cauliflowers, etc., as they soon go from nice tight heads to flowers. A daily visit is best, if possible.

You are certainly not alone in the 'bolting calabrese club' this year  ;)

Even when I cut off all the shoots, the new ones seem to flower almost as they grow  :ohmy: :ohmy:
