does she have a fungal infection on her ear lobe

I love this forum, well spotted.  Helps everyone identify the many health issues poultry have.  Thanks.   :)
ANHBUC,I would not have even done the operation but I learned how to do it from this site!! And it appears to have worked fine. She seems to be ok,sitting on the side of the bath since!:)

Well actually,I just checked and she does have something nasty looking on her left earlobe,do you think I should give her some tylan?

No as if it is Fungal dont think that will help see if it looks like ''Favus'' google that if it does You can use iodine on the spots or Lotrimin to clear it up but if it dont give your vet a call and see what they have to say..

Thanks ever so much Al,She is asleep now by the front door so I shall check again in the morning, bless her,she is bolt upright like a runner duck-again,probably due to feeling so light after dragging that crop around!

Missie, I think it's a lovely thing you'v done. I'd have done the same. At least they've got a fighting chance with you now, who knows what have happened to them otherwise. I  think its lovely. Thankfully, most illnesses can be treated at home if you've got the time and inclination to nurse them, which you obviously have

Thank you every one for your kind comments and advice! :)

Today she has eaten some almost liquefied boiled egg with some vitamins in so hopefully she is on the mend,I was nearly in tears this morning after she ate because I felt the operation looks like it has been a success, just waiting to see if anything comes out the other end so I know her system is recovering. I am still keeping my fingers crossed!

 :) Good morning!

I am adding some pictures of her now, this is what, some four days after and she seems to be recovering ok,pooping like any normal chicken-everywhere so her system is working.her crop is riding low still but I guess that is from all the weight from beforehand and hopefully shall settle down.

No infections to report,I have sprayed gentian violet on her as a precaution.

Storme37 I learned how to do this operation from this site! What a Godsend!!

Lucky for her that you are making such an effort. It's worth it when you see the difference in her. Well done to you both.

She is really strutting her stuff now.  Hope she goes from strength to strength.  She is one lucky hen.  What have you called her?

I've just read the procedure and I can't believe you were brave enough to do it yourself?  Do you have a background in nursing?  I would have been shaking like a leaf so well done you for helping out your chicken yourself and carrying out the surgery.  You should be very proud of yourself.

It seems strange stuff for her to have been eating. It makes you wonder if there was nothing else available

She looks quite well now. I hope she continues to improve  :)
