How can I save my French Climbing Bean seeds without Pea Weevils in em? last year i saved loads of seed only to find I had an envelope full of the blighters!!??  :tongue2:
Chuck it in - it won't grow in the packet!

It must have been something else that were in your seeds.

Pea and bean weevils were not the culprits as the weevil grubs feed on the roots and pupate in the soil and the adults only feed on leaves and never go anywhere near the seed pods.

It may have been some other weevil or, if your seeds were peas, it would probably be pea moth.

You should have no problem storing french bean seed as long as it is dry

Here is some advice about saving bean seeds and tells you what to do to kill the weevils.
they're called bean seed weevils ;)

Thanks so much for your help, I will try again this year and hopefully do it right this time! :D
The seeds were def french climbing beans and the little thingies lodging in them were browny/greyish strange looking things quite big to be honest and crawling about all over the place once I opened the envelope, not a nice sight at all! I chucked them and the bean seed in the compost (as I didnt know what to do with them), just hope the worms had em! shudders at the memory - don't much like creepy crawlies!! ::)

Just hung some plants up in the shed today, to dry off the pods, so will look out for these little devils  ;)
