Product experience?
« on: September 20, 2011, 20:36 »
After reading many posts on here about red mite, I am working on the basis it will probably only be a matter of time before I am need of a product  ???

Has anyone had any experience of this?.......before I splash out on it!

never used it but I have been looking at their other products namely the preditor mites. Remember the prices quoted have to have VAT (20%)  to be added.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to smear vasaline on the perches?

Just what I was thinking Kegs!

One thing really rings the warning bells with me, is that there are no ingredients listed anywhere, and certainly no active ingredients.

This is something i would want to know before I expose myself and the enviroment to them - even if they have been classifed as "not hazardous."

I have never heard of it but have tried to do an online search and can only find one place that it is mentioned and it says exactly the same word-for-word as your link!

Speaking from personal experience when we found red mite in our hen house (tho they didn't appear to be on the hens at all) we got rid of them completely within a few weeks using diatomaceous earth and poultry virenza.

It takes a week or two for the mites eggs to hatch and using my method it only kills them when they have hatched.  I'm sure there are other methods that will work at the egg stage.
The glass is neither half empty or half full - it is simply the incorrect size! Find a new glass!

Hi Emma, if you haven't already seen it, have a look on here for Hillfooter's advice on using Diatomaceous Earth (DE) as a slurry painted on the perches and interior of the coop.  If you do it before you have any sign of red mite it seems to be an effective preventative.  After you have red mite you mite (haha) have to use something stronger.
