when are they normaly ready to dig? i was tolp that if im going to pickle them i need to putt them sooner?

golf ball size, if they dying back just lift em with a fork slightly and let the  soil dry out around the root ball .lift and rack dry in  dry cool place , shed with chicken wire netting is fine . check in a couple weeks for stem rotting ones use em up . use the small ones first  :wink:  then string em up in 10s and leave hanging in the roof of trhe shed ,,werks for me  :wink:

i was trying to plan out where to plant them up

ive got them in now so its pot luck if ive messed up my plot bu planting in the wrong place :?

just got my garlic and onions to plant up nowm will have to think about where they would be best.


when can i plant my broad bean seeds?

Did my broad beans a couple of evenings ago. Make sure they're suitable varieties for overwintering.

It was also on the "things to do this week" on the Gardeners World website.

Broad Beans anytime now I had good results with a sowing in second week of October last winter so I'll wait at least a week then sow BB and peas. My winter onions will go in this weekend with the garlic and shallots following in about 2 weeks time
