Any mycologists out there?
« on: September 09, 2011, 20:16 »
Good evening mushroom lovers

I've been picking for a number of years and I am always looking for different tasty varities. I was having a round of golf today and bumpted into some boletus. Initially thought penny bun but no that was wrong and now I am torn between 2
Boletus porosporus and Boletus Badius.

One is great eating (badius) the other not recommened.

If anyone might have an answer ill post some piccies.

Thanks

Mike

I'm not a mycologist but had to comment - so badius is actually goodius? :)

Johnicus

Indeed

Badius is goodius.  ;)

The other one is shown as "not recommended" - that is a no for me to try and I can't be sure of which it is. 100% is the only way to be with mushroom and what we know as funghi.

Mike

PS Made me smile - thx for post

Being serious - we've a lot of mushrooms in the fields around us but don't have a clue if they're edible. Frustrating!

Is it time for my (slightly amended) Latin poem again?

Glad to hear that Mike - and you're still around to post about it!

Sadly I'm limping about with a poorly cartilage so not up to tramping the field. Pretty sure some of our mushrooms are magical.. must feed them to someone and find out
