Dill as white fly deterrant?

Dill as white fly deterrant?

Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me if they have heard of, or used dill plants as a deterrant against white fly,
l have a real problem with the wee beasties :mad: on me brassica's and the above was suggested.

Not likely as dill is part of the same family as the carrot.

Only real defense is debris netting or growing them in raised boxes/beds more than 2 ft off the ground.

Basil is reputed to repel white fly, if that's any help?

Thanks for that, all my brassica's are under debris netting but as you know white fly are tiny beasties, l shall give basil a try, anything is worth a shot rather than the sticky mess they leave me.

I was advised that fennel (the tall leafy sort) was good against whitefly.  We planted some not far from the summer cabbages and had hardly any problem with whitefly this year :)   We had dill nearby too. But the kale is already suffering a few feet further away >:(

As for the b***** cabagewhites - don't get me started! :mad:

grow marigolds alongside brassicas to deter whitefly, as discussed here..
