any idea what breed/sex this fellow is?

hello! I have a chick and I have absolutely no idea if he is a boy or she is a girl! I also don't know what breed s/he is, but that doesn't really matter I'm just curious. It's very hard to get pics because s/he just runs about all the time! s/he's also a little shy as up until monday s/he was being chicken raised (by Harriet, RIP beautiful girl).
His/her name is penguin, and if he is a boy he will have to go (we've found a good home just in case) but that will leave our remaining silkie Speedy on her own as her friend (penguin's adoptive mum) was put to sleep. we will be fined £3000 if we keep him! on monday, and it will be good to know if he is a he as that will mean we have time to start looking for some more ladies for Speedy.
If you know what breed s/he is, could you tell me a little about them- how huge do they get, do they fly, eggers or eaters (not that we'd be eating her!)
