I have rows of beans on the go as prev. years.
1.Runners-White Lady
2. Green climbing french-Blue lake
3. Yellow c/french-Neckargold
4.Kentucky Wonder Wax-like yellow french only fatter pods!
Generally everything moving on although i think they are all a bit late this year?-and the last item the Wonder Wax are slower and the leaves have this strange mottled effect.

Now can anybody advise cause and effect for me?-is it too much something?/too little/soil pro./virus or what-i suppose i`m most concerned that the stable manure i have used over the years has a problem but the other varieties seem fine and have not had problems before

Some input/ideas would  be a big help-thanks in advance

One of my varieties of bean had mottled leaves like that. I thought it might be magnesium deficiency, so I gave it a spray of Epsom salts, and the new leaves were normal.

The puckering is usually sign of a viral disease of green bean foliage transmitted by the beet leafhopper, and called Curly Top. Foliage of infected plants shows cupping, wrinkling and puckering.

there's not much you can do when it does appear other than try to use resistant varieties. It's often passed on by a beet leaf pest, so if you have beets nearby, keep them far away next year.

Well that is a new one to me   Thanks Trillium

I just assumed it was normal aphid damage.

Need to think about where I have beets next year I guess  :) :)

If that is what it is, wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beet_leafhopper

says companion planting with marigolds helps :)

Thanks for that-I`ll do the Epsom Salt trick when i can resolve dosage rate?
We do have leaf beet miner problems so could well be that issue too but as far as i know there is no control for these nasty beggers and they have been a pain this year for me.
Will keep further apart next year and try the marigolds as well-try everything!! :nowink:
