can anyone tell me the difference between male and female flowers on gem squash

Welcome to the forums.

I've split your post off the one you tagged your question onto, as it had been dormant for over 3 years.

In common with all cucurbits, females have a small, embryonic fruit behind the flower. Males just have a thin stalk.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
