This is after just one application, I sprayed two different plants at different days just to make sure it was not a fluke.
This was 3 days after spraying

and then 4 days later

I checked again on a seperate plant, this is 4 days after spraying

The horsetail did not have to be roughed up either.

The weedkiller is called Murphy problem weedkiller and it says do not grow anything for 3 months after spraying, I have 5 bottles left from when I bought it some years ago and I cant see it on any EU banned list, anyone else used this stuff ?

Even if it's not banned, it's not the stuff to go spraying on your plot if you can't grow for 3 months, is it?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I guess that depends on whether he has any plans to grow anything on that area, does it not DD??  :)

I AM infested with it, and would gladly put 1/2 the plot to one side for 3months...

I've never really seen the problem with mare's tail.

It's a nuisance - I've got it - but a regular hoe keeps it down and over the years the problem has diminished without tipping strong chemicals on the soil.

That aside - why doesn't a Google search find it? What's the active ingredient(s).

I'm sure that it is no longer licensed for use.

Amitrole is only available in 3 professional-use-only products, none of which are Murphy's; their respective licensed use is 1) hard surfaces and land not intended to have vegetation; 2) land not intended for cropping; and 3) and specifically only for non-edible crops.

The only licensed Murphy MCPA products are lawn feed and weed (and they don't have amitrole as an active ingredient).

It is no longer legal to store or use the product.  The degree of its toxicity on your plot is indicated initially by the period for which the land must be out of use, and also by the fact that the active ingredient is only now licensed for use by properly trained people wearing the correct protective wear / in the licensed conditions.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

So the common sense point of view is somewhat vindicated then?

Even if it's not banned, it's not the stuff to go spraying on your plot if you can't grow for 3 months, is it?

I guess that depends on whether he has any plans to grow anything on that area, does it not DD??  :)

An area with no plans? That's highly improbable. Most forums members are trying to squeeze the last square inch out of their plots. The idea is to grow stuff isn't it?

Anyway, laying half your plot off for 3 months whilst the stuff is growing, probably means putting it out of commission for April, May & June. As there's not a lot of stuff you can plant in bulk in July - this effectively means the best part of a growing year until autumn comes around.

i used the other weedkiller  ??? with the same results it gives great satisfaction knowing that its gone and gone for good

As for seeing the back of it. Don't count your chickens. The top growth may have gone, but what about those roots lurking feet below the surface?

I don't know if the stuff is systemic or not as I don't have access to a now withdrawn, possibly banned product, which turns probably not using it into definitely not using it as far as I'm concerned.
