Hi all,

I have been wanting to tell you about my Nasturtiums  but been so busy this past few months that I haven't had time to come on here 

I planted some nasturtiums in two large pots and just let them grow.
They looked very lovely but I couldn't see any evidence that they were attracting the blackfly until last week that is. They are absolutely covered in blackfly  but the best thing is that my beans don't have any blackfly at all.

We are planning to put hanging baskets of Nasturtium on a few fence posts next year and hope that they do their job of attracting the blackfly to them.

So it looks that companion planting has worked here

I always plant a sacrificial row of them round the plot margin to draw fire away from my brassicas. The nasturtiums attract black fly and cabbage whites so you end up with the flowers crawling with caterpillars and not your cabbages
