Onions lifted, what next?
« on: July 31, 2011, 21:05 »
I've had a great weekend on the allotment - weathers been great, and I've been revelling in my produce. All my garlic, and most of the onions are up now, and the beds cleared of weeds at the same time. Also lifter last of the peas I had and a row of beetroot.
I've put leeks in the area the peas and beetroot came out off, and some salad over a bit of the allium bed. The onions are drying on the bed too at the moment, but when I take them off, I am stuck for what to plant. The rotation plan I have says peas/beans, but it's too early for broad beans surely? Are there any other options?

I welcome any suggestions for catch crops or whatever that I can plant?

Our John does a lovely step by step on this kind of question.
"I think the carrot infinitely more fascinating than the geranium. The carrot has mystery. Flowers are essentially tarts. Prostitutes for the bees. There is, you'll agree, a certain je ne sais quoi oh so very special about a firm young carrot" Withnail and I

You'd possibly still get a crop off dwarf french beans
