It's very satisfying, digging and pulling couch grass!

I'm clearing the edges by digging down a spit, and taking a slice off the path at the same time. I get a bucket of 'neat' couch every three ft...

I was watching River Cottage recently and the forager guy on there said that Fat Hen was better tasting than any spinach. I shall try it out and let you know

Now that's a good idea!

There's quite a bit close by, so I'll get Dennis to try it..., it is on his plot anyway!

I am one of those strange people that loves weeds/wild flowers like buttercups, daisy, rose bay willowherb, in fact lots of bright colourful flowers  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

Was it Alan Titchmarsh that said weeds are flowers growing in the wrong place

I love Queen Anne's Lace and let it grow for the bees, though it can get a bit invasive if let to itself.

I used to hate milkweed as it leaks that milky stuff and roots are hard to get out. But once I learned that Monarch butterflies are in decline because of declining milkweed sources (the only plant they'll lay eggs on) it's now become a favourite and I allow it to grow in my property edging.

My true hates are bindweed and sow thistle  >:(

favourites - the ones the ducks will eat when thrown over the run fence
worst weeds - twitch (couch grass) and anything the ducks won't eat.Oh and I dont like the little devils that hide in the hedge bottoms away from the hoe and then seed all over again.
I treat nettles as butterfly cover so it is not really a weed provided it stays where I leave it.
