We've got Purple Queen, the pods are a deep purple right from the start. Stir fried they end up looking a bit khaki, boiled they look a bit nicer.

(The Yellow Wax turn a very pale yellowish green, and look almost transparent when they're cooked)

I examined my Purple Queen closely yesterday.

As soon as the flower comes off, the bean is green. It only has to get to about 1 cm long before it turns purple.

Different varieties will of course vary.

I hope so -- we have grown yellow wax pods as well  :lol: :lol: :lol:
