Runner beans!!

Right, first daft Q....

I popped half a doz runners in the corner of the greenhouse to give them a head start, now they went well.. so I thought I'll leave them there and get a few meals before the ones outside....they got loads of flowers but have set nothing. While the 6 rows in the garden are great..the memsahib says we may get a boiling this weekend.

Now I am wondering is it because with the door closed and only the top window open at times...the bees & other little * could not get at the beans?.

Any thoughts???

Runner beans need to be pollinated by insects, climbing french beans do it themselves.
Use pots (I like the supermarket cut flower buckets) then you can put them out in the daytime and bring them in at night.
