Strange growths on potato stem

they look like tomatoes and are the natural fruit of the potato plant. However do not eat them they are poisonous.

After posting picture I did a little research and found that these growths are a disease called rhizoctonia.  This seemed to affect only the one plant  but will have to research this condition further to help stop this happening again.

Found that  growing mustard as a bio-fumigation  treatment cover crop should help sort this out.  Also  planting sets four inches deep.  I’ve always plant mine at least a spade or so deep .  So will try this method when I use the same bed again.
